A quick little blog post about the ways in which you can include sentimental items in your session with me.
Neonatal hats and teddies - I love it when parents come to their newborn session and bring along their first teddy that has been bought for them, but this mum actually bought along the two little knitted teddies that her twins were given in the special care unit - absolutely adorable! Often babies are given a little hat in the neonatal ward and some parents like to include the hat in a photograph too.
Did you also know that if you can knit you can donate to your local neonatal wards
First teddy - If you have a specific first teddy that you are bringing along and you would like to include it in one of the shots, always feel free to send me a photograph of it prior to your session, you never know, given enough time, I may be able to source a similar/coordinating/complimenting bonnet/hat to go with it! Not guaranteed but a possible option- I already own a fox, bear and a wolf bonnet and could happily add to my collection if such a matching bonnet out there exists!!
Blankets - For newborn and older baby sessions, bringing along their special blanket granny has knitted or a heirloom shawl that has been passed down the generations always adds a lovely personal touch to a photograph and one that the grandparents will adore!
Wedding dress or veil- For a recent older baby session, mummy bought along her beautiful wedding veil to use during the session. Most of the time, after the big day, your wedding dress and veil just hangs in a wardrobe or gets folded up and stored in the attic, so this is a lovely way to get to use it once again.
This can also be done beautifully with a newborn baby 💗
Please always do mention an idea if you have something different to the things mentioned above. My space is quite small so some things may not work. Also please do let me know if you are bringing along your wedding dress. I now have black walls!! So some background paper will need to be taped to the wall prior to your session. Roll on the day I can finally find myself a studio space!
I look forward to hopefully meeting you sometime in the future, thanks for reading! :)
